Buddy On Guard!

“Buddy ran for his leash eagerly this morning.  He has such hope in his eyes, it moves you.  Like a child seeking adventure, he raced for the door, leash in his mouth.  Up he stood, handing the leash to his daddy, and off they trotted to the golf cart.”

Chasing boogey men and guarding the site from all intruders is a job Buddy takes very seriously.  This self appointed position pays well.  He gets fresh air, and sits at attention while driving the beat.  No cop could be more in tune with the moment of patrol.  Previously licking his lips in anticipation of such a sweet ride, Buddy is now all business.  There are cats ahead, he must stay alert.

His partner, Lynn, is at the wheel, steering them into dangerous territory with care.  Buddy trusts his partner completely, as good patrolmen would.

Lynn also stays alert; at the end of the site is a retention pond, known to be the summer vacation home to alligators.  Alligators eat dogs.  Buddy does not know this, so he is kept on the cart with a short leash attached to the wheel.  Buddy thinks he’s free…but we are his protectors as he protects us.

Buddy is on guard, and I hear them coming back from his rounds.  I have to leave now, and go receive his report regarding all the dragons that were slain, and the cats that ran for cover because of his bravery.

Buddy says “Good morning!” to all the other barkers on patrol….”stay safe!  It’s a jungle out there!”
